The knock at the door startled both women as they turned to see who it was. In the doorway was Lauren’s boyfriend Jake. Almost instantly Lonna’s heart skipped a beat and she smiled. On the other hand Lauren knew he was once her boyfriend but something felt off, like he was a bit too young for her.
“I just wanted to see if you were ready for lunch Lonna?” Jake asked
Looking at Jake then back at Lauren she nodded “Ya um just give me a sec I have to like talk to Ms. Rodriguez really quick.”
Smiling he said “sure things” and turn around to wait in the hall, closing the door as he left.
“OMG Ms Rodriguez I forgot to like tell you....Jake thinks I’m his girlfriend.” Lonna stated Bitting her lip nervously waiting for Lauren’s reaction.
Internally struggling with conflicting emotions Lauren replied “well right now he technically IS your boyfriend Lonna. And well I honestly think it would look inappropriate if a teacher like myself was with one of my students.”
Lonna also conflicted thought “she’s like right...and he’s like super cute..no wait he’s only 18 and I’m much older...no I’m 18 now too.”
Seeing Lonna struggling Lauren walked up to her, hearing the heels click on the tile floor. “Everything will be alright Lauren.” Lauren stated trying to comfort her.
Shocked Lonna looked up at Lauren. “What did you just call me?” Confused because she knew her name was Lonna Tran but being called Lauren felt right.
“I....I don’t know why I said that.” Lauren replied
Seeing her teacher almost scared at was happening stated almost uncontrollably “Ms Tran I think more things have been switching.” Slapping her hand across her mouth. “I...uh...I mean Ms Rod...” but being cut off by Lauren. “The stone must be making us...each other. Giving us the lives we thought were easier.”
“But like I don’t want to be you..” Lonna complained like the teenager she was becoming.
“And I agree but we must find some way to fix this soon. So far this isn’t stopping and one can easily argue we will slowly start switching more then just mannerisms.” Lauren stated in a mature tone
“You like mean I’m going to have that body.” Lonna stated pointing at Lauren.
Nodding “well yes and I will have yours.” Lauren’s mind racing. Her newly acquired mature outlook clashing with her old one. Thinking “no way can I have her body.” But it was quickly silenced. Stating “ But we’ll have to take this one day at a time. In the mean time I will see what I can find out online and you and I will do our best to live each other’s lives until we can switch back.” Lauren smoothed our her blouse
Lonna nodded nervously “ok Ms Tran.”
Lauren feeling a sense of relief being called that. A odd self reassurance. “How about you come back at the end of your classes today before you go home Lauren?” Lauren asked
Lonna agreed and headed out the door to her boyfriend waiting.
