To Karyn's horror, the die landed on Limb Swap. Karyn wasn't sure how limb swapping could be worse than having three legs, two heads, or any of the other choices; she just had a bad feeling about it.
The change occurred in a split second. Karyn and Jon, however, were much slower to react. Neither could comprehend, let along believe, how the rock had affected them.
Karyn, sitting on the end of Jon's bed, had a new twist in her neck that forced her face toward the ceiling. Nevertheless, and without much success, she was trying to look at her feet -- all four of them! "Jon? Can you see what happened to me?" she whimpered.
"Uh, well, it looks as if, uh, the stone swapped your arms and hands for, uh, two more legs and feet," he replied, not at all sure his eyes were being honest with him. "Your upper feet are on your lower knees."
"Then where are my hands?" asked Karyn, hoping against hope that Jon wouldn't give the answer she feared.
"I don't see any hands," Jon admitted. "Maybe they're, uh, tangled up in there somewhere. Can you stand up?"
Karyn tried to stand but her lower legs wouldn't straighten at the hip and her upper legs made her top heavy. As a result, instead of standing up, she fell forward! Then, to keep from falling on the floor, she instinctively braced herself on all four legs.
"Jon? What happened to me?" she asked again. At least now though, with all four feet on the floor, her face pointed forward and she could look around the room.
"I think you've become four-legged," Jon stated weakly. "Go look in the mirror."
Somehow, without worrying how she did it, Karyn walked on all fours toward Jon's full-length mirror, Then, when she got there, she screamed!
Seconds later Jon heard his mother running up the stairs and fumbling to get his door open. When she burst in, neither Jon nor Karyn could believe what they saw!
