"Wait a second," said Karyn. "Mikey wouldn't be the only one with a problem ... I mean, a newborn baby."
"Why not?" asked Jon.
"Because the wish affected everyone in town," explained Karyn. "There must be a few thousand people here, all at different degrees of pregnancy. Mikey can't be the only one who had given birth over the last 24 hours."
"Maybe one or two of them would have given birth anyway," speculated Jon. "But yeah, there might have been more births, since everyone in town was pregnant ... and still is ... for a few more seconds, anyway." Jon looked at his watch.
"Do you think today's babies - the ones produced by the wish - not the ones who'd be born without it - will just disappear?" asked Karyn.
"I dunno ..." Jon envisioned his new niece. "Wouldn't that be murder? Maybe the babies will still be around ... but they'll be born to other mothers. Plausible mothers, in the way that our reality used to be. Just how is it possible for males to give birth here anyway?" Jon looked down at his belly. It was uncomfortable for him to walk toward his computer. He looked up "pregnancy" on Wikipedia.
"What does it say, Jon?" asked Karyn.
