"Enh, let's skip the humanoid modifier die," Karyn said. She threw the dice...
The duration die came up as one year, the gender die came up as all girls, and the species die came up as feline.
Jon blanched. "Oh my god..." he muttered as the changes set in. Fur shot up both of their backs, and in a flash they had full coats. Both of them grew a little leaner, and Karyn's chest shrunk back to a normal size, developing a new set of muscles. Jon's normally flat chest expanded into to average-sized breasts, then also developed the new muscles. Jon clutched at his groin as the organs there reshaped and rearranged, leaving him medically female. A few short changes later, (s)he looked as if she'd been born a girl, with long brown hair and a slim but powerful figure. Their ears moved up on top of their heads and grew thin, triangular, and pointed, and their faces reshaped into more of a muzzle shape. Their tongues grew a little thinner and rougher, and their incisor and molar teeth reshaped into canines. Karyn stretched, hands balled into fists, and yowled in surprise when her new claws dug into the growing pads on her palms. Thankfully, the alterations to her hands stopped with that, but her feet quickly reshaped into digitigrade paws. She yowled again as her tail began to grow, pressing against the back of her pants. She stuffed a hand down inside them and was about to pull her tail out over the back when her pants disappeared and then a skirt materialized around her waist. She looked at Jon, who had had the same thing happen, with her boxers also becoming panties. With the problem now non-existent, Karyn let her tail drop.
Both waited a minute or so, expecting more changes, but none came. They looked each other over before looking themselves over. Both were humanoid housecats, about five feet tall, both lean and sleek. Karyn's fur was a light calico, and her hair was the same sandy blonde as parts of her coat. Jon's fur was medium gray, and her hair was a darker brown. "So," said Karyn, "I guess it's done."
Jon murmured confusedly. "I...but...what..."
Karyn stuck a hand down the front of her shirt. "What the-?" she muttered as she felt the new muscles. Jon eyed her in a curious fashion, not quite sure what to say. "What...?" she began, before Karyn cut her off. "It's some development like a natural bra or something," she said, a little embarrassed. "Why did that happen, I wonder?" she mused.
Jon shook her head, trying to clear the confusion from her mind. "I'm no expert," she muttered, "but I'd guess it's a survival thing. Maybe our new species is designed to be viable in a feral state, like if it had always existed. It'd certainly be easier for females to hunt, or run away, with such a feature. That probably also explains why...um...why yesterday's wish was reversed."
"Yeah," Karyn said. "Hmm. All girls? If reality has been reshaped to fit the wish, how does that work?"
Jon reached into her pocket and pulled out her wallet. Inside was a picture of her family, as they now were. Her mother was a catgirl who looked very much like her. Her father was a human male, same as always. Her sister Zoe was also a catgirl, unsurprisingly. Her little brother Mikey was now her little sister, also a catgirl. Their signatures were scribbled on the bottom of the picture, as they had always been, but Jon's now read "Jennifer" and Mikey's was "Michelle."
Karyn walked over and looked at the picture. "That doesn't make sense," she said. "We specified for the entire town to be affected, but apparently your dad is still human and a guy."
They went into the living room and pulled out the encyclopedia set, looking up the entry for their new species. When they located it, they found that apparently there were only female catgirls, and they reproduced by marrying and mating with human males. Any children from such a union would invariably be catgirls.
"I guess," Karyn theorized, "that maybe any guys in the town who had fathered children stayed the same to prevent any sort of paradox, while apparently guys who hadn't, like you, were affected."
Jennifer was still too shocked to say much.
