"Ok, but let me roll this time. You have horrible luck." Karyn replied and snatched the die out of Jon's hand before he could close It.
"Fine. Fine. Go ahead. Steal my thunder." Jon shrugged and waited anxiously for his friend to roll the dice.
"Here (snort) goes" Karyn said as she rolled the die on the hallway floor.
"Wait, don't!" Jon cried but it was already too late. Karyn had dropped the die on the floor and before either of them could even see what it came up it was kicked by a passing student and sent ricocheting down the hall. Both of them hurried after it.
Unfortunately it rolled under some lockers and they couldn't get at it. Even worse it apparently came up 'Enemies' as the two former best friends suddenly couldn't stand the sight of one another.
"Get away from me you fat cow!" Jon cursed and pushed Karyn away from him.
"Like I want to be around you, (snort) you pathetic pansy!" Karyn angrily retorted and then turned to storm off.
Jon was pleased to see her go. He hated and despised Karyn. He wasn't sure why, but was certain they were enemies. If he ever saw her again it would be too soon. And with her gone he could concentrate on getting the dice she lost under the locker back.
Lying on the ground and stretching his arm out flat against the tiled floor he could almost reach the magic die where it rested beneath the locker. Almost but not quite. He could feel it though with the tip of his middle finger though. With just a little more effort he could probably get it. Then...
