I suddenly heard an inhuman screech and looked up to see an enormous hawk fly through the air. "I am the guardian!" it cried. "Leave my territory, human!"
I drew my weapon, ready to strike the beast if it swooped down on me, but it didn't. It just flew around in circles.
I backed away from the computer terminals, just as the bird wanted. But when I did, I got jumped by a ravenous wolf. As I struggled to get it off me, the hawk yelled out "This is your punishment, human! Stay out of my territory!"
I pushed the wolf off of me and struck it with my weapon. It whimpered in pain and then limped off into the forest.
"That wasn't so bad," I said. But I spoke too soon, because I began to see multiple wolves emerging from the forest.
