"Notice anything different about me?" Graeme prodded his best friend and co-worker, Terry Furgess.
"I dunno, haircut or something?" Terry guessed.
Graeme laughed and shook his head, then grabbed a cup form the water cooler.
"You're certainly happier than usual," Terry replied. "I take it things went well yesterday?"
"Actually, yes it did," Graeme replied, "very well indeed. But that's not the only reason I'm happy."
"Then what is it?"
Graeme looked over his shoulder and leaned close to his friend before whispering, "Can you keep a secret?"
"Ooh, this sounds interesting," Terry smiled. "Not here though, I know somewhere we can talk with more privacy."
Terry shut the supply cupboard door behind him and locked it.
"We can talk in here," he said, "now shoot. What is it?"
Graeme pointed out his shoes, to which Terry barely batted an eyelid. When he informed his friend that until this morning he'd always worn normal sized shoes, Terry called bullshit. So Graeme told him all about the well in the park, including the wish about his shoes, the wish about getting his wife pregnant (though he left out the part about his infertility, that was for his wife's and doctor's ears only) and the fact that reality changes so everyone suddenly thought they were normal.
"You'll have to forgive me," Terry said finally, "if I'm... a little skeptical."
"That's okay, I wouldn't believe me either," Graeme replied. "Just go try it for yourself! What have you got to lose but a dime?"
"Hell, why not?" Terry said. "Okay, I'll go there after work today."
"One more thing," Graeme added. "Just keep this between us, yeah? If people knew about this, well that well could be very dangerous in the wrong hands."
"Sure, you can trust me."
"Yeah I know," Graeme said. "Just be careful, okay?"
"No worries," Terry turned to leave.
"OW!!" Graeme suddenly cried out in pain.
"Oh sorry man," the overweight Terry said, "I didn't mean to tread on your foot. Not a lot of room in here, you know?"
"Sure, sure. Get lost, Terry," Graeme smirked as his friend left the supply cupboard.
Graeme knelt down to take his shoe off to assess the damage. He fell over backwards in fright as from his 30" long shoe, he removed a nearly 30" long foot!
