"I wish," whispered Karyn, "that any guy who acts sexist in here will become a woman who looks exactly like her male self, and likes being female, but is hiding it so she can be in a saloon, except Jon." She didn't really want to get Jon with the wish, even though he would occasionally say tactless things... besides, he might have to say something he didn't really want to just to fit in.

"Hey, I heard that!" said Jon. "What if you change the past?"

"What?" asked Karyn.

"If you turn someone into a woman they can't marry the same people and have the same descendants. We could get back to our own time and find things completely different...."

"Oh, stop worrying," said Karyn. "I wish that that wasn't a problem."

"What are you and that broad jabbering about?" asked the bartender. "She should talk so people can hear... damn women, always keeping secrets and hiding things." Then the bartender seemed to shimmer slightly.

"Wait a minute," said Jon. "You didn't hear what she said, but I did, and she was talking to me. You're just looking for an excuse to say something bad about her."

"Say something bad?" replied the bartender. Jon really hoped the next step wouldn't be having a gun drawn on him, but the bartender seemed oddly calm. He leander close to Jon to whisper to him, "Don't tell anyone else here, but I'd never say anything bad about a woman coming into this bar."

"You wouldn't?" replied Jon. "But you just did!"

"I have my reasons," said the bartender, "but they're a secret. And you might want to tell your girlfriend to watch out for Bill over there" he said, pointing to a black-haired cowboy with a brown leather vest, sitting near the fireplace."

"Karyn, he said..." said Jon.

"Yeah, I heard."

"Did someone call my name?" yelled Bill. "Hey, boy," said Jon, "there's nothing wrong with me. I don't touch people's girlfriends. Not even strangers' girlfriends." Bill let out a loud alcoholic belch and continued. "Where are you from anyway? I never seen you here before."

"I'm, er, a traveller" said Jon. "I just came here to do some prospecting."

"That's strange," said Bill. "There's nothing to prospect for a thousand miles."

Argh. Of course not every place in the West was the same. Jon tried to think up an explanation and said "Well, I got bad advice. I'm moving on in a day or so, me and Karyn just stopped by here."

"Who told you you could find minerals here?" asked Bill.

"Well, Karyn and I..."

"Your girlfriend give you bad advice? You should know better than to get advice about mines from a fuck partner. Don't you think so?" Then he shimmered too. Karyn giggled, knowing what had just happened.

The guy didn't seem too hostile. Still, he did have a gun, and he had obviously been drinking, so Jon decided to be careful. "I... Sure, anything you say. Girls don't know how to deal with men's things." Jon felt his body shift, somehow.

Bill seemed to not even know what Jon was replying to. "Of course they do" he said. "Some of the guys here don't trust women for anything other than sex and keeping house, but there are lots of them with a good head on their shoulders...."

"What?" said Jon. "You just said..."

"Jon," said Karyn, "he transformed. He looks the same but he's a woman now. He didn't hear the wish, so he's not going to remember anything. He doesn't even know he said what he said."

"Whew" said Jon. "I thought there was going to be a gunfight."

"Silly!" said Karyn. "They didn't start gunfights that easily in the West. Nobody was thinking of shooting anyone. You've just watched too many old movies." She looked at Jon, muttered "couldn't be," then shook her head.

Jon caught the gesture. "Karyn, is something wrong?"

"Jon," said Karyn, "tell me. The wish shouldn't have affected you but I want to be sure. You're a guy, right? You're not a girl who disguised herself as a man just so she could get into the saloon, right?"

Jon considered the sensations coming from his body and looked down at himself. He didn't have shapely legs or any more breasts than a man would, but he could feel that he was different between the legs. "No, I just transformed into a girl now. I'm wearing guy's clothes because it's what I wanted to wear, not because I wanted to disguise myself."

"What?" said Karyn. "Oh no... I get it now. The 'except Jon' only applied to the last part of the wish, about being in hiding. You were still transformed...."

"Hmm. Yeah," said Jon, "it must have been your wish that made me a girl. It's okay, though. I like it this way...."
