Princess Fina stood stunned at the scene before her. The man she loved being led away as a common criminal, two bulky guards standing in her way. Tears started to well up in her eyes. She bit her lip to help her maintain composure. She saw the guard gesture for her to follow him. The other guard stayed behind Fina to make sure she complied. She shuffled after the first guard with reluctance knowing they would lead her to her room as if she were a child. Princess Fina felt like one often enough with no control over her life. She found a man who cared for her and listened to her. A man who respected her. Her mind began formulating a plan. She would discover what they would do with Sir Garrett and she would rescue him. Her handmaiden could be trusted. Princess Fina's father never paid any attention to the servants wandering about. Sandra could easily pretend to be sweeping the floor or another menial task and listen to the proceedings. After she found out what was going to happen to the Sir Garrett she would figure how to best help him. She had jewels enough to bribe any susceptible guards. Princess Fina felt she knew best which one's might give into the temptation. As for the rest she had access to sleeping potions that would do the trick.
Sir Garrett solemnly walked down the hall. He knew King Emeril held no love for the prospect of him as a son in law. Still he would hesitate to eliminate a respected member of the order of the silver griffin. The King shouldn't be able to dismiss all of his loyal service. Still, the King was known making those who got in his way disappear. He swore an oath to the King and he would accept what came. Then Sir Garrett noticed they were not heading to the throne room. He realized that they were heading to the court wizard laboratories.
A long stone hall lit with only candle light illuminated the magical protective runes carved into the stone. Any who approached with ill intent would fall afoul of a myriad of curses. Sir Garrett felt apprehension not knowing what the king had in store for him. He didn't doubt that King Emeril's hand in this. He never suspected that the King's hate for him ran so strong. King Emeril broke the fidelity between them. He owed no more loyalty and he would escape if the opportunity showed itself.
The large metal doors opened with Mazara the head court wizard Arimas's second in command. A willowy dark haired woman with a cruel smile on her face. Her dedication to King Emeril the only thing greater in her life than her love for experimentations. Her came up and she gave a beckoning flex of her finger to summon them to follow her. She spoke coolly, "So rarely do I get a subject in such fine condition as you Sir Garrett. I have been given explicit instructions to make sure nobody recognizes you after I am done with you. A real shame to because you do look handsome as you are. I have sent away the rest of the staff so I could see to you personally. I think we will have a lot of fun."
