"I really can't believe this, Karyn." Jon and Sarah both said. It was just like the day before, the two of them seemingly locked together in their actions. But this time, Jon was in control.
They sat next to each other on Jon's bed, dressed identically in khaki shorts and a black t-shirt. Karyn marveled at Sarah, her face wearing only the same look of exasperation that Jon had. Karyn was pretty sure she'd never seen Sarah without makeup. She'd still be very pretty, if she didn't look so pissed.
"AHEM" they cleared their throat together, causing Karyn to look over at Jon.
"How did this happen?" they asked Karyn.
"You were there, Jon. It was a stupid wish. How many more times can I say I'm sorry."
"I dunno, Karyn," they said. "I had no control. You saw some of the things I did... and said. It was really frightening."
Karyn glanced over at Sarah, "So does she... does she know what's going on?"
"I don't know," they said. "I mean, obviously she can see and hear what we're talking about. But yesterday was so weird. After a while, Sarah's thoughts and actions felt like my own. By the end of the day, it didn't even feel like anything was unusual. It wasn't until I woke up today, then I remembered everything. I imagine that's how Sarah feels- like a prisoner, at least for a while."
"What do we do?"
"We have to wish for something," Jon and Sarah said in exasperation.
"I don't know, Jon. Wishes can't be reversed. I mean, if you can't even undo a blue tree branch how the hell are we going to fix this?"
"I don't know, but we have to do something. What's going to happen tomorrow?"
Karyn hadn't thought of that. She had been so relieved to have Jon back, even if things were still weird. Would they both go back to being Sarah again? That's when she remembered something the day before. When she'd talked to Jon's mom. Something about yesterday being a "Sarah day" and that they'd be back today. Did she know something?
"I think we should ask your mom."
"Huh?"
