The rest of Karyn's morning was pretty uneventful. She wasn't usually late and her teacher during first period was nice enough to ignore it as long as it didn't happen again. She didn't see Jon or Sarah for the rest of the morning, making it a relatively normal one. The only thing that seemed out of place was some girls she recognized as cheerleader saying 'Hi' to her, but thankfully, nothing like Sarah.
Once lunchtime arrived, Karyn was confident that she could face Sarah now that the shock had passed. She still wasn't looking forward to it, but she was at least prepared this time. But she didn't go to the cafeteria like usual, instead, she walked outside and waited for Jon near the tree with the blue branch. She had discretely sent a text to Jon this morning asking him to meet her here before lunch.
Soon, Karyn could see Jon exit the school and walk toward her. He looked apprehensive, probably still thinking about what happened yesterday. He would probably have started apologizing if she hadn't talked first. "Jon, we have a big problem!" Jon grimaced, as if he was afraid of what was coming. "It's Sarah!"
"What? It's not about the wish?" The surprise on Jon's face was almost comical, Karyn would have laughed if she wasn't so concerned about the situation.
"We'll talk about the wish later! Sarah has changed, she's less bitchy."
"That looks like an improvement to me." Jon said with a small grin.
"This is serious, Jon. She's like another person! If she didn't look the same, I wouldn't recognize her at all. And she thinks she's our friend." She then thought about something, "You didn't wish for anything like this, right?" She asked accusingly.
"No! I promise, I haven't used the stone since we hung up yesterday!" Jon defended himself. Karyn didn't think he did it either, he wasn't the type to completely change someone's life, but she had to be sure.
"Do you think it could be my wish?" She had been considering this option all morning.
"The one you made yesterday?"
"Yeah... You remember how my family changed because of it? Maybe Sarah was somehow affected too, as she was the model for my hair and breasts."
"Maybe, but why would she change so much? From what you told me, it's not something as minor as your father being blond."
"I don't know... Do you have the stone here?"
"No, I let it at home. I thought it was better not to risk any more mistakes after yesterday." Karyn would normally agree with that, but she couldn't help but be disappointed. There was probably a safe wish they could make to help them in this situation.
"Damn it! Then I guess we'll have to deal with the problem, at least for today..."
"What do you mean by that?" Asked Jon, suddenly a little worried.
"She's probably waiting for me at the cafeteria, and I don't want to go through that alone. So you're coming too!"
"Can't we just go eating somewhere else?"
Karyn thought about it. That would certainly keep her from seeing Sarah now, but it could cause more problems later. Her new 'friend' might worry even more and she didn't know her enough to know what she would do... She probably knew where she lived in this reality. Maybe she would come to her house to talk to her, and Karyn was not willing to let her in her house until she knew her more. "No, that won't work..."
"Why not?" Jon looked like he really didn't want to go eat with Sarah, "She's not going to follow us if we don't let her."
"I'm not worried about that..." Karyn explained to him what happened this morning. "I think she might worry even more after that and try to talk to me after school is over."
"And you think all of that happened because of your wish?"
"I don't see anything else." Seeing Jon remaining silent, Karyn finally asked. "So, are you coming or not?"
