"I have to see Jon before class. I'll see you later." Karyn began walking away from Sarah, but she only took a few steps before she caught up to her.
"Wait! I'll come too. I haven't seen him since spring break began and I have nothing to do before first period."
Karyn's brain stopped working an instant. It seemed to be happening a lot around Sarah today. She didn't respond and simply continued walking toward the school's entrance.
She didn't expect Jon to be here as there was still 10 minutes before class started, it was only an excuse to get away from Sarah, that obviously didn't work.
While looking for Jon, Karyn continued to notice small things that had changed about Sarah. The way she moved was slightly different, more natural looking. It didn't give off the impression that she was untouchable. Karyn also noted some change in her surrounding. Other students didn't seem to pay more attention to her than to Karyn. One of them, that Sarah would have qualified as 'loser' before, even bumped into her, and she was the one who apologized for not watching where she was going.
"I don't see him anywhere, he will probably show up at the last second, as usual." Sarah commented after a few minutes. "I hope you didn't have anything urgent to tell him."
"I guess it can wait..."
"Not that you have a choice, right?"
"Yeah..."
Sarah's expression suddenly changed. "Okay! What's wrong? You've been acting weird this morning and I know you enough to tell it's not just lack of sleep. I'm your friend, you can tell me!" Karyn knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. She didn't have the memories of this reality and was shocked with everything new, of course Sarah would notice. "It's something to do with Jon, right?"
Karyn knew she needed to tell her something, but she certainly couldn't tell the truth. "Look, I... It's complicated." She never was good at lying, so she decided to be evasive instead. "I can't really tell you right now..."
"Sure you can! I can keep a secret if that's what bother you."
"It's not that, it's just... It also concerns Jon, and I don't want to tell anyone else without his consent." She hoped it would be enough that Sarah would stop pressing her.
"Karyn." Sarah looked more serious than she could ever remember. "I can see it's really bothering you. I want to help you, but I can't do anything if you don't let me."
Karyn was surprised that she felt guilty. While she couldn't remember Sarah as her friend, it was obvious that she was, and she was worried about her. She felt that she should let Sarah help her, but she couldn't tell her about the stone and everything that happened.
"I'm sorry Sarah... I can't tell you right now." Sarah looked disappointed, she began to say something but Karyn continued. "But I promise I'll tell you about it tomorrow. I just need to talk to Jon about it, and it would be better if he was there too."
Sarah seemed to think about it. "Alright, but you better keep that promise!" She seemed to relax a little, before a look of shock passed on her face. She quickly looked at her watch. "Shit! We're going to be late." She turned around and began to run to her class, "Talk to you at lunch!" she shouted as she disappeared into a hallway.
Karyn sighed, she had to talk to Jon about what to do with Sarah. She couldn't understand how her wish had affected Sarah the most out of everyone, she told herself once again that the stone was dangerous. But for now, She and Jon would have to find a solution about Sarah, should they change her back to what she was before? Should they tell her about the stone?
Karyn looked around the empty hall thinking... "Wait, empty hall?" She thought back at what Sarah said and, "Shit! I'm late!" She began running toward her class.
