After dinner Jon and Karyn excused themselves from the table and headed back up to Jon's room. On the way there Karyn pondered about asking Jon to go out for a walk, it was getting late and Jon might think it was a date. A date might actually not be a bad idea, Karyn did have feelings beyond friendship for Jon and as Mr Gibson had pointed out Jon had feelings for her. Tomorrow was Friday, perhaps they could do it then. By the time they had got to Jon's room she had made her mind up. Jon sat on his bed and crossed his legs while Karyn stood there working up her courage. "Hey Jon," she finally asked with her head down and shuffling her feet. "Do you maybe, want to go out tomorrow night?" "What? You mean like a date?" Jon asked "Err, yeah. Sure" Karyn replied. Jon squealed and jumped off the bed and wrapped his arms around her neck "Oh Karyn, of course I would! I've been dying for you to ask me, I've had feelings for you for a long time." "So have I" Karyn admitted putting her arms around Jon's waist "I just didn't want to do anything that ruin our friendship." Jon nodded gazing deeply into Karyn's eyes "I don't think anything will happen, besides we are perfect for each other. Ohh, I'm so excited!"
They sat and chatted a while and then Karyn decided it was time to head home, before she left however Jon kissed her on the cheek and whispered in her ear "there's more where that came if all goes well" he said grinning. Smiling Karyn headed downstairs, passing the living room she saw Jon's parents watching TV, Linda had her arm around Roger's shoulder and Roger was snuggling up to Linda. Karyn bade them goodbye and headed home. Jon meanwhile was so excited, Karyn had finally asked him out! He started looking through his wardrobe for something to wear tomorrow night, he frowned when he couldn't find anything suitable. "This won't do" he said to himself, Karyn had already seen him in all of his outfits. He decided that he would head to the mall after school to buy a new outfit, and maybe stop at the salon to get his hair done. Finally it was time for bed, Jon got changed into a nightie and then after telling his parents the exciting news he said good night and went to bed. He couldn't wait for tomorrow!
