"Of course Karyn can stay dear" Jon's father was saying as Karyn entered the kitchen, he turned and looked at Karyn "as long as it's ok with your father." Karyn nodded and replied "I'm sure it will be fine Mr Gibson, but I'll ring him just to be sure" "Good," Jon's father replied "I wouldn't want him to worry about you." Karyn left the room to ring her father while Mr Gibson (Roger) returned to preparing the meal he was making.
Jon's little brother Mikey was helping set the table, he looked cute in the little dress he was wearing and had black Mary Jane shoes on with white knee high socks, he also had hair tied into pigtails, he looked up and asked his father "where's mommy?" Roger replied "I'm afraid mommy's going to be late home from work sweetie, but she said we could start without her. Jon be a dear and call your sister down." Jon nodded and went to call Zoe while Karyn came back confirming she could stay.
While they waited Roger quizzed Karyn "So Karyn, you and Jon. Anything going to happen there?" "What?" Karyn replied and then blushed as she realised what she was asking "Oh no Mr Gibson. Jon and I are just friends." Roger seemed a little disappointed "that's a shame," he said "Jon really seems to like you and I think you two would make such a cute couple." "Err, thanks Mr Gibson, I guess." Karyn replied "Just don't go leading Jon on or anything" Roger continued "I don't want him to get hurt." "Don't worry Mr Gibson, I wouldn't do anything to ruin our friendship." Karyn replied, Roger seemed satisfied with that answer and then started to lay the table with the food he had made as Jon and Zoe came down
