As she took a moment to drink the water, another terrible thought occurred to her. If I go through with this, even if I manage to get rid of the ceremony via the stone, I'll have still made an oath to Jon. I can't just say it to say it. It's too important to not mean it.
And then she had an even worse thought. She realized that the only thing in her hands was the glass of water. She'd dropped the stone upstairs somewhere!
"Daddy, I need to go back upstairs for a minute. I forgot something."
"Honey, we don't have time; you've wearing the dress, and you've got your bouquet. That's all you need. Jon has the other stuff outside already."
"But Daddy, I need to go to the bathroom."
"Sweetie, this isn't a full mass. You know we didn't have time to arrange for that. The ceremony will only take about ten minutes. You can go afterwards. Besides, it'll take ten minutes to get the dress off and back on again. We can't keep everyone else waiting that long."
By this time, Karyn was starting to cry. "I can't do this, Daddy."
