Karyn looked down at herself. There did appear to be a bit of a bulge in her midsection.
As she looked, she realized that she had gotten so excited at the idea that she had also forgotten to specify an ending for the wish. She definitely wasn't laughing now. She put her hands over her eyes to think about it, but her legs suddenly gave out.
Fortunately, Jon was right there, and caught her before she could fall. "Are you alright, Karyn? Do you need some water, or something?"
"Yes, thank you. Let me sit down for a minute, too." She sat down in the next room, where, apparently, she'd been making her preparations. Unfortunately, as soon as she sat down, her dad came in to take her downstairs.
"Come on, honey. It's time to get things going." He handed her the bouquet, while from the back yard could be heard strains of Pachelbel.
Oh no, she thought. I can't do this now. Apparently, we've already slept together, and I missed it. I don't even know if I love him.
While she was thinking about this, her dad was guiding her down the steps, and helping to keep her from tripping over the dress. "What about Jon?" she asked. "He was getting me some water."
"He's outside already. We'll stop for a minute in the kitchen for some water. Are you ready?"
