After a couple of minutes, Sarah was finally able to get Karyn to calm down enough to continue. "So why are you so happy about that?"

"Well, like I said, the stone grants wishes. You can wish for anything you want, but you can't directly contradict a wish already made; you can only modify previously-uttered wishes. Jon turned that branch blue to convince me that it works. Here, let me show you." She reached into her bag to grab the stone. "I wish the branch directly below the blue branch there would also turn blue." There was the normal-to-Karyn flash, and they needed to look away for a moment, but when they looked back, it was also blue.

When she saw it, Sarah's jaw dropped, and she just stared at it. Karyn went on, but Sarah wasn't hearing a word she said. After a minute, she interrupted Karyn, "Karyn, wait a minute. If he just turned that blue, how come I don't remember it suddenly turning blue?"

Karyn backed up what she'd been saying, "If you don't hear the wish said, you can't notice the change. It's as if things had always been that way. You see these?" she said, pointing at her chest. "You remember me growing into these normally, right?"

"Well, duh."

"Nope, these were a wish also. Jon had handed me the stone right after changing the branch, and I saw you a ways off, and was jealous about how the guys reacted to your hair and chest..."

Sarah cut her off, "So you wished to look more like me? Why would you be jealous of me? You're always around the guys I'm around."

"I'll show you. First, look back at that branch. I wish the branch that just changed to blue was red." She paused for a minute. "See, nothing happened. Now, I wish that my chest was a B-cup again."

Again, she waited for a moment, and nothing happened.

"Now as far as being around the guys you're around... How do I put this? You were a lot different; and we weren't friends. In fact, all I ever heard from you was insults."

"What?!? How can you say that? After all..."

Karyn put her finger on Sarah's mouth again, saying, "Shh. I know. Like I said, you were a lot different. You were the captain of the cheerleading squad, for Pete's sake."

"Oh, yuck. Those phony little tramps?"

"I know. Just trust me, you were like that, too. Picture me as one of them, and you'll have some idea how weird it is being able to really talk to you now. And I still have no clue what changed you.

"Well, getting back to what happened, Jon and I had never been romantic. It just never seemed appropriate. But then, we were experimenting with the stone, with how you don't notice the changes when you don't hear the wish. I wished that, for a few minutes, he'd be a little kid.

"When I walked in, not only was that all he remembered, but suddenly I was his baby-sitter as well. He tried to get the stone back from me until the few minutes were over. When they ended, he ended up sitting in my lap, a hand around me, my shirt ripped, and a look in his eyes I'd never seen before. I swear, it was a good thing I was sitting down, because my knees would have given out otherwise. And then his mom walked in on us!"
