A couple of minutes later, after wiping her eyes, she continued, "After he told me about his grandfather, he told me he'd inherited something amazing from his grandfather. He said his grandfather had left him a wishing stone."
"No way!" Sarah said. "I almost believed you after all those histrionics, but now I'm calling your bluff."
"Sarah, shut up and let me finish. You will believe me. After all, when he was telling me about it, I didn't believe him either. Anyway," she said, pointing, "See that tree with the blue branch, there?"
"But that's been like that for months... It's got that weird disease..."
"Nope," Karyn interrupted her. "Jon did that!"
Suddenly, it hit her! "Jon did that! He must be around somewhere. Since it couldn't reverse that wish, he must be around somewhere!"
Karyn was so happy, she jumped back down from where they were sitting on the wall, pulling Sarah after her. While Sarah mostly stood there, shifting just enough to keep from being pulled over, Karyn danced a happy dance in circles around Sarah.
