"I wish I knew why in the new reality me and Karyn have twins our own age," Jon said. The stone glowed, giving him his answer. "Time travel."
"Huh?"
"They're from the future, Karyn. They traveled back through time to meet us when we were teenagers."
"Isn't that dangerous? I mean, couldn't they change their own future? Make it so they were never born?"
"But they were born. Just a few minutes ago. Remember?" Jon asked.
"Then where are they?"
"Huh?"
"Where are the babies?" Karyn asked.
Jon grasped the stone. "I wish to know what happened to the babies I just bore." The stone glowed. "The nurses took them away and put them in the maternity ward."
"So, now there are two versions of each?" Karyn asked. "This is getting complicated."
"Not really," Jon said. "The older ones aren't really our children, not yet anyways. I'm sure that they'll probably be heading back into the future soon."
"Actually, that's not gonna happen, Dad," the teenage Mike said.
"Yeah. We're kind of stuck here," the teenage Sandy said. "It was a one-way trip."
"Why would you do it then?" Karyn asked.
"Well ..." Mike began to explain.
