"First of all, I wish that until I wish otherwise, all air molecules would stay at least a foot away from Zoe's body. Now, I wish that Zoe can live without air."
Zoe gasped, and moved her mouth. Needless to say, she couldn't speak the words "Accio Stone" without any air. She couldn't veto the wish either, since the wish affected the air, not herself, and she only could veto wishes made about herself.
"I wish there's a big metal cage over there," said Jon, "until I want it to disappear." Suddenly a cage appeared... around Zoe.
Jon picked up a pencil and paper and she pushed it between the bars. "If you want to say something, I'd suggest writing it down."
She quickly scribbled the words "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS, YOU ASSHOLE?!"
"Because," she explained, "remember when you said you didn't do anything to me?"
Zoe nodded.
"That's true as far as it goes. You didn't do anything to me. You did something to Karyn, though. You wished she'd think I've always been a girl, until you choose otherwise. Imagine it, Zoe. Not only does she think I'm a girl, but I can't explain it. She'll be forcing me on shopping trips, not able to even understand how it makes me feel. Reverse it, Zoe. Reverse it now."
Zoe wrote, "WILL YOU FIX ME"?
"Sure, I'll fix you. But it's my stone. It's not your property, and you don't get to use it any more than you get to break into someone's car and take it on a joyride."
Zoe wrote, "YOU SHOULD SHARE IT."
"I own it, Zoe. This isn't some sort of piece of cake that Mom gave us and told us to share with each other. You can't just demand that someone share something because it would be really useful to you and you're upset that you weren't the one to get it. Now reverse the wish on Karyn. And Marie too."
Zoe nodded. Then she wrote "IT'S DONE."
"I wish I knew if Zoe did as she was asked." A pause, and Jon said "Nice try. Now do it for real."
Zoe grumbled, or would have if sound could come from her mouth. Then she pointed to the writing again.
"I wish I knew if Zoe did as she was asked... Okay. Now, handling you. I'm not planning to hurt you in any way. I didn't really even want to punish you. But you've forced me into this position. I'm going to make a wish, and I don't want you to veto it."
Zoe wrote "WHAT IS IT?"
"I wish that Zoe always likes the result of any wish made on her and never wants to veto it." If Zoe didn't veto that immediately, it would affect her, and she'd never want to veto it any time in the future.
Jon waited and said "I wish I knew if that worked, and if Zoe vetoed it. Okay, it does. Now I wish to reverse the air molecule and cage wishes, and I wish Zoe could never say the phrase "Accio Stone."
"I suppose I deserve it," said Zoe. Of course, Jon had wished Zoe would never want to veto a wish. Therefore, she'd have to think she deserved having her power over the stone limited in this way. But this might cause some problems in the future... any other wish anyone made on Zoe, she'd want to happen too.
Jon opened the door. "Now go," she said. "I need to figure out this girl thing myself." Why was it easy to reverse almost all of the wishes? Jon had no idea how to become a boy again.
