Before going to their next class, Karyn met up with Jon in the hallway, where Jon did a noticeable double-take.
"Karyn? Did you get new clothes?" he asked.
"Yeah. Do you like them? I found them in my gym locker. Someone must have put them there while I was out playing soccer. At first, I wasn't sure I wanted to wear them, since it might have had something to do with the stone, but after wearing them, I decided they're just perfect. Although, I do kind of miss my jumper."
"Why do you think the stone's involved?" Jon asked.
"I don't know. It just felt kind of strange, you know? Finding different clothes in my locker. Clothes that fit me perfectly, but are way more expensive than anything I own."
"Well, it seems you had a more interesting class than me. Mr. Burton gave us this long boring lecture on ..."
"Mr. Burton? Jon, you don't have Burton's class. Don't you mean Mr. Holt?"
Jon drew a blank for a moment, then blinked. "That's right." He looked back at the class he just exited, then back at Karyn. "I didn't even notice!"
"So, so far, whoever is using the stone is giving me better clothes and making you go to the wrong class," Karyn said. "This is pretty goofy wishing. What's the point of it all? And why are we aware of it?"
