As tempting as Kyla's burgeoning interest in fashion was, Ronald decided that pursuing her shift into his list of proper candidates could wait. Maybe until Laine was around, to see how a finished candidate might affect a burgeoning one... he mused. Instead, he set his sights on Jay. Let's see what becomes of you, he wondered. He already had such staunch competition from the likes of Ranae, Laine, and now Journey. But the outcome of his wish had not disappointed yet. He could not imagine it would start to do so now.
Settling in with his focus squarely on Jay, Ronald watched and waited for signs of the young man's change, his focus drifting between the drawing boy and the class at hand. Time to see where the changes take you, Jay.
Five minutes later, and Ronald was beginning to see the first hints of change in Jay. It began particularly small, so small Ronald did not recognize the shift until the second time it occurred. One by one, Jay's nails had shifted from their normal color to a coating of glossy purple. The boy paid the change no mind, of course, and even if he could notice he seemed far too engrossed in his drawing to care.
Jay had discarded his previous picture of Yuki, now drawing a new figure in basic postures. Ronald was no expert, but it seemed as though while the previous picture, while not terrible, looked rather awkward and amateurish, this new figure was at least in their basic bones much more natural looking. Seems the change might be affecting Jay's skill.
Ronald caught Jay frown, pausing in the sketch to stare down at his hands. For a moment Ronald worried somehow the young man had noticed his changes, but instead he took his pencil from one hand to the other before resuming the drawing, this time with his left hand.
Seems Jay's a southpaw now. Interesting, thought Ronald, before pausing in his observation to catch up on the class lesson.
When Ronald next got the chance to look at Jay again, he saw the changes had progressed further. The young man's face had softened somewhat, while a pair of glittering studs had appeared in his ears. Jay was still drawing, totally engrossed in his task. Ronald was a little surprised Jay's inattention had not drawn the ire of the teacher yet, but he supposed that just made watching his changes all the easier.
Jay was also getting better at blocking Ronald's view of what exactly he was drawing, using his body as a buffer between is paper and the eyes of his fellow students. Every so often Jay'd cast a wary glance around the room, as though expecting to see someone peeking over his shoulder. Like he's got something to hide, thought Ronald, amused by the changing man's behavior.
Then, apparently dissatisfied, Jay balled up the paper in his long nailed hands and tossed it aside, before taking out a new sheet of paper. While the crumpling prevented Ronald from getting a good look at the subject, he did see enough to realize two things. One, that Jay's drawing abilities were continuing to rapidly improve. And two, and to Ronald more interesting, the figure on Jay's page looked, at least at a glance, to be male, rather than female. Had Jay moved on from Yuki? Ronald wondered idly, before drifting his attention back to class.
It was nearing the end of class now, and Jay's suspicious behavior had increased exponentially now. He sat hunched over his desk, a gesture that emphasized his newly narrowed shoulders, glancing around every time before sketching out a new part of... whatever it was he was drawing.
Jay also seemed to be increasingly excited about the prospect of whatever he was drawing, as his eyes filled with delight and something more whenever he laid eyes on his paper. He'd bite his lips-- now swollen and rounded to a thick oval shape soft and glossy-- tap his fingernails on the desk as he waited, squirmed in his seat as his waist and hips began to slowly shift.
Ronald was not quite sure what to make of it, until he caught Jay staring back at him a moment when Ronald's attention was on the lecture. As soon as Ronald made eye contact, the man ducked his head from Ronald's gaze, though not before Ronald could see the other boy was beet red in the face. Well, glad to see that's kicking in quickly, he thought. When Jay resumed his drawing, this time he seemed to be a little sloppier in his attempts to conceal the contents.
Glancing over, Ronald saw that the new figure was indeed male. Male, and quite fit, with the musculature no doubt exaggerated a little. Then, as Jay moved onto the face of the figure, Ronald realized who Jay was attempting to draw. He could not be certain, given the anime style giving just about everyone the same face, but it looked a lot like... him.
Ronald chuckled. This is getting very interesting indeed, he relished.
