Ronald glanced over the other two he planned on changing. As luck would have it, they both sat about equidistant from himself in the very next row in front of him. Looking from Jay to Kyla, he found himself in a classic dilemma. Who would be next?

At this point, Ronald noticed Jay writing something. Leaning forward, he got a brief glimpse of the boy's paper. Instead of words, there was a drawing of a girl. To be more specific, it was an anime girl. She had the usual characteristics one would expect, large reflective eyes, tiny nose, an elaborate hairstyle, and a thin yet curvy body dressed up in a super feminine outfit. Hm, I never knew he could draw. Then again, he's always doodling something in his notebook, and everyone knows about his extensive anime collection.

Then, something else caught Ronald's eye. A small word bubble had been added to the drawing, containing the words, "Hi, my name is Yuki!"

It occurred to Ronald that the character's hair and basic structure did seem reminiscent of the real-life Yuki he knew about, though the bright smile and girlish pose were completely uncharacteristic. Did Jay fantasize about the one Japanese girl in their entire grade? While fitting, in it's own strange way, things could only end in tragedy. The boy had absolutely no skill with girls, especially not reclusive ones like Yuki.

Bringing his mind back to the present, Ronald then turned to Kyla. Like Jay, she was more interested in her notebook than in the lecture. A slight lean to the right provided a good view of her activities, which brought about another surprise. She was drawing, too!

Across the open page, she had sketched out a svelte feminine figure in a fashionable pose. Lines and blocks of color somehow gave the figure an attractive dress, complete with patterns and accessories. Labels here and there identified each article in small neat handwriting. The whole thing was a nice blend of order and creativity.

So, she's a fashion designer as well as a cosplayer, Ronald thought with a smile. That's a useful thing for a cosplayer. She probably designs Laine's costumes, too.

Ronald gazed at both teenagers in front of him. Both had their appeal. It was just a matter of choosing one.

Journey snuck another peak at the boy beside her. Having had some time to calm down from her embarrassingly close encounter with Ronald, she now wondered if she had done the right thing in telling him about the rock. Sure, he was cute, and he seemed trustworthy. Then again, what was Karyn going to say when she found out she spilled the most important secret of the universe to a boy after talking to him for only a few minutes!?

In the end, without a doubt she had done something pretty stupid, and she could blame the whole thing on her runaway emotions. Dealing with Ronald just left her so flustered in a wonderful kind of way. Now, there was no going back. She would just have to talk to Ronald again soon and make sure they stayed on the same page on this. Karyn would have to be informed as well.

So much to do.
