Miss Lynch urged him along. "You don't want to be late for class, Biff," she said.

She made him leave his car in the school parking lot. Biff and his father had restored the car together, and Biff was proud of it. The elementary school was on the other side of the neighborhood.

Once inside, she escorted him down the hall to one of the classrooms. The teacher was...well, hot. He momentarily forgot his objections to being there.

She smiled at him, and his hormones raced a bit. "I'm Miss Warren. The class is at gym right now, but will be back in a little bit. Your desk will be right here. I do it alphabetically, to be fair. Why don't you unpack your things and get ready for class?"

Miss Lynch excused herself, and a few minutes later, his new class filed in. It still surprised him that everyone was acting like it wasn't insane for a teenager to be sent to fifth grade. They were acting more as if it was unfair, not nuts. He didn't understand it.

"Aren't you too old for this class?" The boy next to him asked. Biff made a noncomittal noise. "I'm Mikey," he said. "On the other side of you, that's Tommy Meshida. He's cool, even though he doesn't talk English so good sometimes...he's learning."

Mikey had this odd urge to be friendly to the new kid. He explained it to himself by thinking that a big kid like Biff could help protect him from bullies.

Meanwhile, over at the high school, someone smiled. With Biff out of the way, and humiliated, things would be so much better. They paused. There was still room for improvement though....
