"Ugh, I can't believe teenage boys," she said, "Sometimes I wish I hadn't gone into teaching."
She felt compelled to close her eyes and a moment later, she opened to see that everything was different, in subtle ways. The male students who had turned away looked very different. They wore suits and looked much older. The football field was no longer visible outside the window...it was now a parking lot.
A poster saying 'Vote for Aaron for class representative' was now a poster on workplace safety. She peeked into a nearby door...into a room filled with cubicles and workers with headsets and computer terminals.
It was plain as day what had happened. The whole school had turned into some sort of company....the sign said Lake Point Industries. She must have been dreaming, but she pinched herself and felt the pain. It was all real!
Miss Robertson said "Excuse me" to one of the two men.
"Yes, Miss Robertson?" One of them was admiring her chest.
"Do you, er, feel any different?"
"What are you talking about? Is this about those TPS reports? I'll have them on your desk by 2..."
"Thanks," she said. They hadn't even noticed anything had changed!
They turned away and left again, but she could make out one of them saying "Wow, look at those tits." Sheesh, she thought, the most bizarre thing in the world happened, and even as professionals, they were still immature.
Meanwhile, Karyn and Jon were looking all over for the rock. When they had just about given up, and were getting ready to go back to their desks before their supervisor noticed they were gone, they passed Miss Robertson in the hall and Jon noticed that Miss Robertson was holding it!
"Karyn," she said, "Miss Robertson has the stone! We have to get it back somehow. Who knows what she might have done with it already...."
