"Oh my god." Jane said. "It can't be!"
"I'm pregnant too."
That said Jon broke down into girlish tears.
Jane comforted her son/daughter and after a while Jon was once again in control.
"Being a girl has many benefits, but we do tend to be more emotional than are guys. Being pregnant only brings those emotions to the forefront all the more."
"But Mom, we are pregnant and it is my fault." Jon said, starting to cry again.
Once Jon stopped crying again Jane asked, "Feel better?"
Jon was a bit surprised but he did feel better, not good but better.
"Okay. We need to think this thing out. We have a magic rock, so we can use it to help with the problem."
"But we have to be careful." Jon said. "The rock is what got us in this mess to begin with."
"Yes. It is. So I am going to put it way over here." Jane said as she put the rock in the cupboard next to the coffee cups. "So it isn't near us as we talk about what to do. I'd hate to make another bad wish."
Mother and daughter sat at the table and Jane began. "We can't use the rock to wish our pregnancies away."
"Of course we can't!" Jon exclaimed. "That would be as bad as an abortion."
(I apologize to those who support abortion. This is not meant as a stand for or against abortion, just part of the story.)
"I didn't even think that." Jane said. "What I meant is that we can't undo wishes."
"Oh." Jon said.
"Let's look at the facts." Jane said.
"One. We are both pregnant and due in about 42 weeks."
"42?" Jon asked. "I they taught us in school that it is 40 weeks. Why are we going to be pregnant longer?"
"It is 40 weeks from the first missed period, which is about two weeks after conception. We know when we conceived, don't we?"
"Oh." Jon said.
"Two. Neither of us has a male in our lives who could even remotely be considered the father."
"Ug." Jon said.
Just the front door bell rang.
"That is probably Karyn." Jon said. "I'll get it."
"I think I should get it, young lady." Jane said.
"Oh." Jon said.
Jane went to let Karyn in, knowing that she couldn't really keep Jon's best friend out.
