Sarah sat on the wall after class, nervously fingering the bag she'd hidden the stone in. It was only Monday and the weekend had been one of the most stressful she'd ever endured. She had been torn between carrying the bag around all day in case or leaving it in her locker.
Sarah had been distracted all day through classes, worrying that someone would break into her locker and take the bag. But it was a good school; everyone was pretty honest in general and there only had a very few incidents of theft. But what if this was one of those days?
She opened the box and fingered the stone within. It was slightly metallic, rather like haematite, but with a reddish hue to its surface, rounded, flattish and about an inch across.
She looked up. Her friend was approaching her. She needed to share this with someone. It was too much responsibility for one person.
