Jon grabbed for the door and opened it. The girl standing outside did look like Karyn, but she wasn't his Karyn. For one thing, her hair color was different. For another, she was too young.
"Hi, Jon. Uh ... are you gonna let me in?" she asked.
"Yeah," he uttered, then let her in.
She glanced over at the woman in the kitchen, then spoke in a lowered voice. "I thought we could use the stone a little more. Is it still in your bedroom?"
"How do you know about my stone?" Jon asked.
The girl looked puzzled. "Because you showed it to me? Jon, are you feeling okay? You're acting kind of strange." Then her eyes went wide. "You didn't use the stone on yourself, did you?"
All this talk about that stone got Jon thinking. Right before it glowed, he had wished that he was born in the 20th century. And looking outside, he determined that he really was in the past. Maybe in the late 1990's or perhaps the early 21st century. That meant that his wish came true.
That stone he got in the mail could actually grant wishes!
