Somewhat later...
"I don't know what to think," said Jon. "That was funny and sad at the same time. And I'm surprised anyone even believed you for a moment."
"Look, Jon," replied 'Yolanda'. "When the stone changes someone, it makes everyone believe they were always that way. There's no possible way anyone could have figured out it's me. They don't even remember me as Karyn."
"But it still doesn't make sense," said Jon. "You know, 'Yolanda' is an ethnic name, and it certainly isn't Japanese. And you don't look half Hispanic."
"Maybe I'm from Peru. There are people there with Japanese ancestors. Maybe I'm Japanese but adopted by someone Hispanic. Maybe my Mom is Hispanic and it just doesn't show much. If it's unlikely, it can still happen, right?"
"And the speech pattern..."
"It's possible," said Yolanda. "I'm sure there's one or two people who talk that way."
"Karyn, I'm sure there's one or two black people who eat fried chicken and watermelon and speak in Ebonics," said Jon. "I just can't believe we're doing this. Is this the first step to using the magic stone to become evil and take over the world?"
"Oh, come on, Jon," said Yolanda. "It's not as if we're making fun of some poor innocent bystander with the wrong skin color. It's just affecting me. Now, I believe you needed to dress as a girl for tonight...."
