Karyn looked up at Fred and said, "We'd love to, wouldn't we J?"
Jon was in so much shock that his best friend had just set him up with a date with a guy, a very big guy, that he couldn't think of a single thing to say.
"Great. We'll be by to pick you up at six at your house Karyn." Fred said. "Got to run." He added as he headed off down the hall, "Bye Karyn."
Kevin followed him and said over his shoulder, "Bye J. I can't wait until tomorrow night."
After the two boys had disappeared around the corner, Jon turned to Karyn and asked, "What did you just do to me?"
Karyn looked a bit confused and then shook her head. "What do you mean? I just got asked out by Fred. Do you know how long I have had a crush on him?"
"Yes I do know, you have been telling me about it at least once a week since fifth grade."
"Well then what are you so upset about. I accepted a date with him. I would have thought you would be happy for me."
"Karyn. I am happy for you. But you accepted a double date with Fred."
"Double date? J, what do you mean a double date? Who else is going?"
"Fred asked if you and I wanted to double with him and Kevin, and you said 'Yes'."
"Opps." Karyn said. "I am sorry J, I wasn't thinking."
"What are we going to do?" Jon asked. "If I don't go out with Kevin, then you can't go with Fred. But if I do go out with Kevin and he finds out about you know what, I'm dead."
"Don't worry J, I am sure we will think of something by then. But we need to hurry to class."
