"Yes Ma'am." Jon said, not knowing why he had agreed to this.
Jon wasn't the only one who was surprised at Jon agreeing to this. Karyn was having troubles believing her ears.
She and Jon had been friends for many years. He had, on more than one occasion, complained about doing something that was too girlie, and yet her he was wearing a wearing a pink blouse with white pants and blue sneakers. He didn't look too girlie (except for his clothes), but if she didn't know any better, she would have sworn that Jon was a girl named Jennifer when she heard him practice answering the phone.
'I'll have to ask him about this later tonight.' Karyn decided as her hair was done in updo.
As Karyn's hair was cut and styled, Jon did his job, acting as if he really wanted to please Miss Shane.
'I wonder how far he will go to please Miss Shane?' Karyn wondered to herself. 'I hope he doesn't embarrass himself.'
As Karyn paid Miss Shane she asked, "Miss Shane. I like Jon a lot, but won't most of your other customers wonder about someone who looks like a guy and sounds like a guy, but dresses like that?" She pointed to Jon as he swept the floor.
Shane thanked Karyn and thought about what the teenage girl said.
She looked at the customers who were in her beauty shop. She could see that many of them didn't look as comfortable as they usually did. 'I'll have to think about it.'
