"What's wrong Casey?" Janet asks.
"I wish that Shane would let me work as a stylist here, it would be so much fun. I have all the training, but we don't seem to have the customers, and most of the people would rather have her do their styles." Casey said as she handed Janet back the wishing stone.
As Shane hung up the phone, booking yet another appointment she shouted across the beauty shop, "Casey, do you still want to work here?"
"Oh, yes!" Casey said.
"With all of the appointments I have today, I can use some help. I know you are good. How about you start, part-time, and we'll see how it works out. When can you start?"
"Now." Casey said, with a large smile on her face.
"Fine, Jon can answer the phone as well as either of us can. You can cut Karyn's hair." Shane said to Casey as Jon finished shampooing Karyn's hair.
"Jon, come over here." Shane said to Jon calling him to the front desk. "I'll explain how everything works here."
During Shane's explanation to Jon, the phone rang. Jon picked it up. "Hello." Jon said. He listened for a moment and handed the phone to Shane, "It's for you."
After booking another appointment, Shane hung up the phone and turned to Jon. "If you are going to work here, you will have to answer the phone; that is not the way you answer the phone here." Shane corrected Jon. "When you answer the phone you will say, 'Shane's Beauty Shop, this is Jon, how may I help you?' Try it."
Jon repeated the message.
"That won't do." Shane said, you sound too much like a guy."
"I am a guy." Jon said.
"We know that, but when you answer the phone, you need to sound more like Casey or I when we answer the phone, like a girl. Try it again."
