As Jon climbed out of the car wearing his new cheerleading outfit, he wondered how this could get any worse, until he saw that the bus that the rest of the cheerleaders were boarding was also the bus carrying the football team.
"Oh, great," Jon said to nobody in particular. Melanie grabbed his wrist and began pulling him towards the bus.
"Come on, Jon, Steve's waiting, he's got a seat saved for you and everything."
Jon tried to resist, but knew that it was futile, as the rest of the cheerleaders were behind him. There was only one place to go... on to the bus. Jon took his free hand and searched his person for the rock. Where was it? The cheerleading uniform had no pockets... so he must have left it at home!
Meanwhile, Jon's mother was cleaning up after the breakfast rush. She noticed a small stone on one table and picked it up. "That's strange. A customer must have left this. Well, it sure is nice looking." As she walked around the dining room with the rock in her hand, she thought about Jon. "He really didn't seem to have much energy today. The team really needs those cheerleaders. I just wish that Jon can be perky and have some pep to support his team!"
