The pit had closed up, leaving no trace that it had ever existed. Karyn sat there in stunned silence for a while. What have I done?, she repeated inside her head.
Sarah had always been a major annoyance, and several times Karyn had wished that she would go to Hell. But now that Karyn had seen that wish come true...she no longer wanted it. She broke down in tears, overcome with guilt.
"What have I done?" she said, aloud.
Couldn't you bring her back?, Jon asked telepathically.
"I don't know..." sniffled Karyn. "I suppose I could try..."
Try it., Jon urged. I feel just as bad about this as you do. It's my fault we're in this mess. If my wish hadn't turned me into your bra, she wouldn't have made fun of you for talking to me, and you wouldn't have got so mad at her that you forgot about the stone...
"I'll do it." Karyn decided. "I didn't ask for her to be there for good, so I guess the stone can bring her back without contradicting the wish..."
Get on with it, then. Jon said. The sooner we bring her back, the better it will be for her.
"Okay." said Karyn. "I wish that Sarah would safely return from Hell."
Once again, there was a rumble as the room shook. An eerie darkness filled the center of the room, like a black fog. A strange, unearthly sound came from the darkness, followed by the deafening shriek of a girl in pain...
The black fog dissipated, leaving a figure curled in a fetal position in the middle of the room.
Karyn approached the figure, cautiously. She really wasn't sure what to expect...
The figure was Sarah, but she was barely recognizable. She was naked, and her skin was covered in horrific scratches. Half of her hair had been burned off...the other half had turned pure white. She was curled into a ball, repeating the same phrase over and over. "God forgive me, God have mercy..."
Karyn looked around the locker room. It seemed that the other girls had fled during the first wish. Sarah continued muttering to herself, seemingly oblivious to the presence of anyone else.
"She's back." Karyn said simply. "Now what do we do?"
Beats me. replied Jon. But I don't think it'd be a good idea to just leave her alone. I don't want to even guess what happened to her down there. Who knows what that could do to a person?
Karyn stood there for a while. Outside she heard voices. Clearly she would have to give some sort of explanation to the other girls and the school. Not to mention Sarah's parents.
