Jon couldn't quite tell what was going on around him, but he was pretty sure that Sarah had found her car and driven to the mall. This suspicion was confirmed when he heard Sarah say, "I wish that Jon would turn back into a human right now and buy a bra from that store which fit me perfectly."
The next thing Jon knew, he was human again and walking towards some generic lingerie shop. He'd been expecting Victoria's Secret or Frederick's of Hollywood, but it was just a regular storefront with the words "Women's Fashions" above the entrance. Once inside, he found himself drawn to a particular rack, where his hands searched out a plain-looking bra with a tag that said 32D.
Jon's mind raced as he found himself turning to the checkout. He was buying a bra in public, what was he going to say? If he was buying a sexy bra, he could tell the checkout lady that it was a gift for his girlfriend, but this one was more supportive, not the kind a boyfriend would buy. But what else was there to say? She was going to think that he was buying the bra for himself! The fact that she was probably never going to see him again wasn't important, what if she did?
As he put the feminine garment on the checkout counter, Jon put on a nervous smile and went with plan A. "It's for my girlfriend."
"Oh," the woman said as she scanned the barcode, "the lovely girl waiting out there for you?" She winked and gestured over at Sarah.
Jon followed the gesture, looking at Sarah, and his stomach sank. Was he really about to compromise himself this way? He didn't know what else to do. "Yes," he said through gritted teeth, "she's my girlfriend."
"Well, go have fun," she said, handing him a plastic bag that contained his purchase.
Jon hastily grabbed the bag and rushed back to meet Sarah as quickly as possible, got the package out of his hands and into hers at the very earliest opportunity.
"I want you to know, Jon," she said grinning, "that Karyn had already thought about that particular out. She just wanted to tease you."
"What out?" Jon rubbed his arm as he looked anywhere but at Sarah.
"Your wish was to help support these breasts. It wasn't to become a bra. Karyn figured that out, but she was just having too much fun and didn't care enough about your feelings." Sarah's voice dripped faux sweetness, "Before she knew it, the other Sarah came along, and then everything changed for the better, didn't it?"
"What do you mean?"
"All Karyn had to do was wish for another way for you to support her boobs, and she didn't want to," Sarah's look turned predatory, "but I did. So I decided to help you out. You're free now, Jon, free to do whatever you want. I'll make a wish so that nobody misses you at school, and all you have to do is walk out of this mall right now and go straight home. It's only a mile or two, it shouldn't be that bad. You see, Jon, I think you just had me misunderstood this whole time."
Jon wasn't sure what to think. "How do I know you're not just letting me go so you can make wishes that I can't hear?"
Sarah's grin widened. "I can always wish you temporarily deaf. Or wish that you'd forget hearing a wish. For all you know, I've already made a dozen wishes you didn't hear, all while you were strapped to my chest. Trust me, Jon, I'm looking out for your best interest here."
Jon gave Sarah a hard stare. She gave him a harder one. It only occurred to Jon later that he didn't think to try to take the stone right then, and he would wonder if that was because of a precaution Sarah had already taken, but for whatever reason he just backed down, and started his walk home.
