"Should we go after the rest of the cheerleading squad?" Joan asked.
Nah, they're pretty much okay, Karyn replied. And without her little buddies, Sarah won't be nearly as irritating when she gets out of the rinse cycle. Hey, I got to get some of my tormentors - why don't you pick next?
Joan thought for a second, then smiled. "Oh, I know just who to do, and wehat to do to them! Okay, first, I wish that Mikey Fuller and his little gang are unable to hurt me, no matter what they try!"
Hey, smart move! Karyn said approvingly as the stone flashed. Mikey and his group of pals caled themselves "The Barracudas", and while any real gang would've wiped the floor with them, they were mean and vicious enough in to be the "bad boys" of this suburban high school.
"Okay, now I wish that all of the Barracudas were here in this locker room, and that they couldn't leave until I told them they could." There was the flash, and suddenly, the gang was there in the girl's locker. ALl five looked around in angry shock.
"What the hell?!" asked Buzz.
"Hi, boys," Joan said. "Welcome to the show." They all whirled around to look at her.
"Hey, did you do this?" demanded Mikey.
"Sure did, big boy," Joan giggled. "You wanna make somthing of it?"
"I'll make something outta you, bitch!" snarled Hank. He rushed forward, swinging his big right fist at Joan - and missed completely. He tried again, but no matter how many times he swung, or from how close, he just couldn't connect. "What kinda hooey is this?" he finally asked in exhaustion.
Ignoring him, Joan kept smiling at Mikey. "You know, Mikey, we seem t be short a few girls on the Cheerleading squad."
"Yeah, I heard," he shrugged, not feeling as confident as usual. "So? What're you gonna do, recruit us?"
"Well... yeah."
"Hey, screw this crap," said Lou. "I'm outta here!"
"Me too!" agreed Zach. He and Lou headed for the door, but no matter how hard they pulled and yanked, it wouldn't open.
As Lou & Zach kept pulling the door, and Hank kept futilely trying to hit her, Joan turned and smiled at Mikey and Buzz. "You ready?"
"I'm warnin' you," Mikey said, trying to keep up his front despite the fear in his eyes, "You better let us out, or we'll -"
"I wish," Joan said, "That until the regular cheerleaders return, you five will be take their places on the squad. Further, I wish that instead of being the snobby, social-climbing cheerleaders they were, you'll be a bunch of bubbly, happy, ditzy cheerleaders whose main interests will be cheering, clothes, make-up, and esepcially boys. I also wish that everyone remember you as you are now while you're on the squad. And finally, I wish that you're unable to tell anyone else what's happened to you, now or ever."
The rock flashed.
"Um, hey, you guys," said the redhead at the door. "Lucy and I can't this, um, door to work right."
"Tcha!" said the girl who now stood in front of Joan with a toss of her blonde curls, "Just turn the knob thingy there, Zoe!"
"I did," she whined, "But it won't open, and I just, y'know, did my nails and stuff!"
"Yah," agreed Lucy. "And we gotta get out of here or we'll miss the guys coming out of their locker in those cutie patootie shorts! You and Bunny come try it, Misha."
Joan laughed as she watched the four girls try and open the door. A fifth girl with the name "Hannah" stitched into her gym shorts pranced over, oblivious to everything but the cheerleading moves she was practicing. "Okay, ladies," Joan finally said, "You can go now."
The girls at the door gave a squeal of delight as the door finally opened and they all piled out, rushing breathessly in the dirction of the boy's locker.
Joan could hear Karyn almost breathless with laughter. Oh, Joanie, I gotta admit, you've got a flair for this!
"Thank you, my dear. Let's go see what else we can do!"
