Smiling to her friend, Karyn said, "Ready for the fun to begin?"
"No. But let's get it over with." Jennifer said, sounding more like a condemned woman than a teenage girl about to go shopping.
"First stop will be you bra fitting." Karyn said.
"Hadn't you best get a fitting as well?" Jennifer asked. "You have undergone a bit of a growth spurt lately."
Well aware of her larger breasts, Karyn responded. "Very funny, but you are probably right. We will both get fitted for bras."
Jennifer followed Karyn into the lingerie section of the large 'corner' store at the mall.
"How may I help you ladies?" A woman about ten years their senior asked.
Karyn gave Jennifer a bit of a push. Knowing what her friend had in mind, Jennifer stepped forward and said, "We have both undergone a bit of a growth spurt recently and we, ah, we thought it would, ah, be a good idea to, ah,"
"You are her for a bra fitting, right?"
"Yes Ma'am." Jennifer said, blushing a bright pink.
"Nothing to be embarrassed about. Most women wear the wrong sized bra, and teenagers, with their sometimes sudden body changes are even more likely to be wearing a mis-sized bra. Which one of you is first?"
Knowing what Karyn's answer to that question would be, Jennifer said, "I guess, ah, I will be first."
Jennifer followed the lady to a small room. "Take off you blouse and bra." The lady said as she got out a cloth tape measure. "There are two factors to choosing the right sized bra. Correct measurements and proper understanding of bra sizes. I am sure that some man devised how to size bras, it just doesn't make sense."
So Jennifer was standing there, naked from the waist up.
"First we measure around your chest, under your arms but above your breasts. This is your 'band size'. Since band sizes come in even inches only, you should round up." The lady said as she measure around Jennifer's chest. "32 'Πinches." She announced.
"Next we measure about the fullest part of your chest." The lady said as she measured across Jennifer's nipples. While this would have been embarrassing enough, Jennifer felt her nipples pebble as the cloth measuring tape slide across them.
The lady seemed to ignore Jennifer's embarrassment. "35 inches." She announced.
"We now subtract the first of 32 'Œ inches from the second measurement of 35 inches and get 2 ¾ inches. That makes you a small C-cup. Do you understand?"
Since she sort of did understand, Jennifer shook her head yes.
"Do you want to verify your other measurements while you are here?"
Knowing that she would need to know her size, Jennifer agreed. A couple minutes later she knew that she was 35-26 ½-37, a bit of a busty size 6.
Once dressed, Jennifer waited for Karyn to undergo the same embarrassment.
That done Jennifer bought seven new bras size 32-C and eighteen pairs of panties (three packages of six) in size 5.
Jennifer thought that she would now just have to pick out fourteen new outfits and be done.
She thought wrong.
