Playfully, Karyn retaliated, mock-growling as she reciprocated Jon's actions.
"Give up? Give up?" He smirked.
Her eyes went wide. "Nev-ah!"
She laughed as he began a tickling assault, rolling over to pin him down as she counter attacked. They stopped simultaneously, once they realized the position they were in.
Jon looked up into Karyn's eyes, looming above him, straddling his legs. Slowly, she leaned down and pinned Jon's shoulders to the ground.
Jon blinked. "Karyn?"
She smiled. "Jon I "
The smile was returned. "I know."
They met in the thin space between to share their first kiss.
"Whew," Heath gasped, glad to be away from the werewolf downstairs. "Harrowing, eh?"
Zoe rolled her eyes. "Harrowing? It'll be a lot more than harrowing if she realizes what you are."
"Yeah, for real." He clapped his hands together, rubbing his palms in anticipation. "So, what's the big news?"
Zoe motioned for him to wait as she fished the rock out from under her desk.
The vampire blinked. "That's the thing you cursed? You hexed a rock how many times?"
The elf rolled her eyes. "It's magick, okay? It grants wishes. It's why everyone is the way they are."
"Um, actually, I'm the way I am because of heredity. My mom became a vampire while she was pregnant with me."
"No, you just think that. The world was mundane as meatloaf until this came along."
"Okay, let's say I believe you. Why curse it?"
Zoe looked a little embarrassed. "Well, I didn't want anyone else messing up my work."
Heath looked stunned. "You you did all this?"
The elf nodded. One second later, she was being swept into the air by the supernatural strength of the scrawny vampire.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you, Zoe!" They both heard the rumbling of his stomach; evidently, he hadn't drunk any plasma tonight.
"All right, already, get a grip! Put me down!"
Apologetically, he did so. "Anyway, I can probably nullify the hexes. Something that trivial shouldn't affect me." He held his hand out for the rock. "All I've got to do is keep wishing for stuff, until the hexes are used up."
Zoe placed it in his palm. "Remember, wish for something simple, and be very specific. They can't be reversed, just slightly modified. And no wishing I'd let you feed from me." She turned away slightly. "Not yet, anyway," she whispered.
Heath nodded. His hearing was sensitive enough to catch that last part, and his fangs extended a little inside his mouth. The thought of a werewolf in close proximity quickly calmed his canines. He ran a polished black nail through his stringy blond hair, deep in careful thought as he contemplated the rock.
"Okay, here we go. I wish "
