She dropped her nightgown on the floor of her room and kept walking, naked...in search of clothes, part of her brain not understanding what she was doing, the other part in overdrive trying to make sense of it.
She didn't know where she was going, or why. She slipped down the hall, entering the room of Ada Nowak, the family's live-in maid. She was in her late twenties, and had replaced their old maid, who retired earlier that year. She was from somewhere in Eastern Europe, Sarah had never bothered to find out where.
Sarah slipped open Ada's drawers. The clothes inside were hardly what she wore normally. They weren't even designer! They were from the local Walmart, and somewhat frumpy. But she slipped them on.
She felt dizzy. Meanwhile, downstairs, Ada put down the coffeepot and walked out of the room.
