He got up and headed toward the door. On the way, he caught sight of himself in the mirror and jumped. His hair...what happened to his hair? It was lightening, turning blond.
Sarah was blond, but no one in his family was. He'd said the more Jon, and he guessed now Sarah, wore the clothes, the more they'd change. Somehow, it was now applying to him.
He had to get her out of those clothes somehow.
Meanwhile, his mother, Jane, had pulled into the driveway, parked the car, and entered her home. She put her keys on the hook by the door, and her pocketbook on the table before she suddenly felt disoriented.
She'd entered the wrong house. How had she done that? This was someone else's house and she just didn't belong here. But where did she belong? She wandered out of the house and down the street, going house by house and looking for hers.
She wandered far from her neighborhood, few people giving the dazed looking woman a second look.
