Jon looked up. It was Kelly Robertson. Even though she taught high school and he taught elementary, they knew each other quite well. "Sure."

"How's work?" Kelly asked.

"Fine," she said. "I have some kids this year who are a bit of a handful. You?"

"I'm just tired of these horny teenage boys leering at me. Sometimes I wish I taught at an all girls school."

Jon raised a brow. "Kelly, they're children," he said, not remembering he'd been a 'child' himself not long before. "You need to learn to relax a little." She'd always been a bit uptight.

Kelly thought about it. "At school, or outside of school? I mean, I could use a night out. But I can't relax at school. You don't know what it's like there."

"You could always switch to elementary..."

Kelly rolled her eyes at that. "I don't think I could deal with kids that young. I don't know how you do it."

"It's the age where the boys still think the girls have cooties," Jon said, with a bit of a smile.

He finished his scone and drink, said goodbye to Kelly, and finished the short trip to school. As Jon was entering, he spotted Lydia Madison entering the school.

As he approached her, something tickled the back of his mind. Had she always been this tall? He pushed the silly thought aside. "What are you doing here so early, Lydia?"

Lydia was about to say something, but then paused. "Dunno...umm..I don't know, Miss Warren." She'd pushed her mother to be here on time...but her teacher hadn't even gotten here yet, so this must be early. She frowned, getting an odd feeling in the back of her mind.

Jon frowned as well. "Well, come inside. You can read quietly until school starts."

Lydia smiled at that. She did like to read. She followed Miss Warren inside. Maybe she'd become a teacher someday...or maybe a police officer, that would be cool.
