The stone glowed for a moment, finding it acceptable. Sarah looked at him. "Just to be safe..." she said. "I wish that this stone, when the other wishes I just made are complete, would appear in the hands of someone who with it would do the most good."
"Why'd you do that for?" Mikey said.
"This thing is dangerous," Sarah told him. "You're better off not having it. I just wished it until the hands of someone else," she said, unaware that the spacial limitations of the item would mean the one most worthy within the distance the stone's wishes could affect."
Sarah had made several mistakes in her wish. She hadn't said how long it would take for her wish to complete. It could take a day, a week...months, or years. She also didn't know how many victims there were. And her wish to be last had ensured the wish would occur out of sequence...not in a pure reversal of the way they originally happened, and would take several additional steps to get to the same result...everyone back where they were.
This is what Mikey knew so far...Jon became someone. He didn't know who. He knew that Miss Warren had become Kyla who had become his mother, who had become Doctor Takahashi, and that Sarah had become Zoe who had become Karyn who had become Jon, ending the day. But not any of the missing steps, or if he had missed a link in between.
It was going to be a weird time for a lot longer.
