The doorbell rang, grabbing Clair's attention. As she walked to the door, her age crept down another year, becoming 15 years old (the same age as her sister Joni), and her hair lightened and shortened.
She opened the door, seeing a 31-year old woman standing outside. She was dressed in an outfit similar to Clair's. And suddenly, she knew who this was. It was Gillian, her best friend. But then something felt weird about that. Her best friend was twice her age? She shook her head, feeling silly having that thought. What difference did it make how old Gillian was? They were best friends and they have been for ... for a long time.
"Hey, Clair," Gillian said, smiling.
"Hi," Clair greeted her back.
Then Gillian came in and they both went into the TV room to play some video games.
A few minutes later, the front door opened and Fannie walked in, carrying multiple shopping bags from the women's apparel shop she went to on her way home.
She heard the sounds of a video game coming from another room and the voices of Clair and her friend Gillian. She smiled, feeling glad that Clair had such a close friend like Gillian. Then she headed to her bedroom, where she stored away all of her purchases in her closet.
