Athena kept shifting uncomfortably in her third period class, worried about the dark forces being unleashed on her hometown. The trail had gone cold, and she really couldn't do anything until she figured out what was going on.
As she mused, Zelda Whitefield, who was sitting next to her, got up, a glassy-eyed stare on her face. Zelda was a cybergoth, the only one at school, and she liked to dye her hair blue or green or whatever and dress in latex bodysuits. It was her style and she didn't care what people thought of her.
No one seemed to notice as she left. Athena started to get up, grabbing her bag. "Where are you going?" Her teacher asked. "Bathroom. Emergency. Girl stuff," she shouted, hurrying out of the room. She began to follow Zelda down the hall and out of the school.
As they started away from the school, Athena suddenly heard her voice. "Hey, Athena. She turned. Another cybergoth was standing there. Her hair was tied up in two antenna like ponytails in the front of her head, looking like handlebars on a bike, dyed a combination of purple and black. She wore one of Zelda's tight latex bodysuits and had a pair of aviator's goggles on her head.
Athena frowned. She couldn't even recognize who was under the makeup, assuming she knew who it was to begin with. "I'm in a hurry," she said. "Catch you later, okay?"
She ran off to catch up with Zelda.
