"Hello! What are you both doing here?" Said their mother, going into the kitchen and leaving her purse on the counter. For a moment she stared at Jon, making him to stay put in place and hold his breath, almost certain that the storm would break out because of his appearance.
"I see that in the end, you let Mikey to take you to the stylist for a haircut, Jon" she simply said, causing Jon to relax and breathe again, "It looks good on you, you look so lovely with you hair like that. You should thank your little brother." continued their mother.
"Yeah," Mikey said smiling, "I knew that lately you really wanted to get a nice hairdo."
Glaring at his younger brother, Jon thanked Mikey with the most forced smile he could make on his face.
"I must also thank you Mikey for volunteering to do the chores. Everything looks so nice today!" their mother thanked Mikey.
"What?" Jon couldn't help shouting, "It was me who broke his back for cleaning the whole house and do the chores!"
"Don't be silly, Jon," began his mother, "Just because you like to dress that way doesn't automatically make you the only one who does things at home. In fact, you haven't even done your chores yet, have you?"
"M-My chores?" said Jon, with his mouth open in surprise, "What else do I still need to do?"
"Well, the front yard is in dire need of some mowing, for example." explained his mother, standing behind Mikey "And I bet you didn't even go to shop the groceries because you went to the salon, right?"
"But..." began Jon.
"No buts. You may be an adult woman, but you still are my daughter and live under this roof. Mow the lawn." settled his mother.
"Go out? Dressed like this?" asked Jon.
"You've never had any problem with that before, Jon. What's the matter?" She said, but Jon was not paying attention to her, he was just looking at Mikey, who seemed to never have been happier in his entire life.
Slowly, Jon nodded. "Nothing, everything's fine..." assured Jon, leaving the kitchen and sitting on the stairs, resting his face in his hands. Even his own mother was on Mikey's side, which at this point didn't surprise Jon at all. 'An adult woman', his own mother had called him, which meant that even her was being deceived by the cover Mikey had given him, and that made Jon feel uncomfortable for some reason. He stood up, brushing his cherry colored locks out of his face and began to tremble just thinking about having to go out dressed as he was, not so much fearing the humiliation but thinking about his aching feet and how tired he really was, to mow the front lawn, no less!
