Jon waited. It was absolutely agonizing, sitting at home, not knowing what was happening to Karyn. Doing nothing after she had been kidnapped and treated like an animal. But he had to, or he might never get her back. It was 2:00 am. Everyone in the house was asleep. He could make his move. Jon slipped out the door, quietly, into the night.
Jon lived on the edge of town, and he only knew one pound nearby. If Karyn wasn't taken there, he had no idea what to do.
After arriving, Jon hefted a rather large rock. He'd have to do this fast, in case there was an alarm. The rock broke the window in one impact. Brushing away the larger pieces of shattered glass, he climbed inside. No audible alarm, though it could be a silent one. It was dark inside, but Karyn was rather easy to find. She'd been too large for most of the cages, so she was behind a large set of bars set into the back wall, apparently asleep The door was padlocked. He took out his father's hacksaw. Some minutes later, the links fell to the floor. Karyn stirred inside. Jon opened the gate, then stopped, mouth agape. It was dark and difficult to see, but his eyes had adjusted, and inside he saw...
