Sally snuck over to the doll house when mom was safely out of reach, and picked Jon up out of it. He started to struggle, futilely, and was stopped by her quiet voice. "It's okay. We can still play, and you can sleep with me tonight. You're my prettiest little doll with that lipstick on." She grinned at him in the dim light; it was the highest compliment she could pay him, but it was depressing. "If I'm a good doll can you tell Mikey to change me back? I can get you a new doll to play with if you do, that Living Doll you wanted."
Sally considered this. "Play with me tomorrow and we'll see, little Sally! Call me mommy!" Jon smiled at her. "Sorry, mommy. I don't like this dress, and the lipstick. It's hard to sleep in." Nodding, Sally took Jon back over to the doll clothes and accessories pile, and he just began to realize how many clothes she had. None of them looked particularly comfortable to sleep in. She didn't have any boys' clothes that he could see, and no pants at all.
Eventually Sally picked out a little pink ballroom gown and heels, which he thought defeated the purpose of something comfortable to sleep in, but she ignored his complaints. Rubbing off the lipstick and stripping him, she dressed him in the backless sparkly gown and put the heels on his feet, then put him back in the dollhouse. Only moments later he could hear her snoring, and forced himself to go to sleep as well.
