Sally picked Jon up immediately and hugged him, trying to kiss him on the lips but getting his whole face caught in it. He didn't resist, and took advantage of his little sister's good mood. "Sally..." She interrupted. "Call me Mommy now, little Sally." She grinned at him, clearly happy with this new thought. He'd indulge her for now. "Mommy, I'm hungry."
She looked down at him, putting him gently on the bed and frowning. "Dolls don't eat. Are you sure?" He smiled up at her. "I do. I'm a living doll, remember?" Considering this for a moment, she nodded and ran off, returning with a small bit of food. Just enough, as it turned out. As soon as he finished eating, as if on time, their mom came in, and he quickly acted like a doll, lying down straight. "Time for bed, honey. Put your dolls away."
Mom stood at the door, watching her. "This is little Sally, mommy. Can I sleep with her tonight?" A shake of the head was all the answer she got. "No, honey. Put your doll away or I will for you." Looking down at Jon, Sally sighed. "Alright, mommy. Come here, little Sally." She scooped Jon up, whispering to him as they walked. "You can sleep in the doll house. We'll play tomorrow, okay, little Sally?" Jon was deposited inside the doll house against a wall of Sally's room, down on the bed inside.
