Before he could come up with a new plan, his mother said, "I do wish you wouldn't tease or pick on your sister so much. Being a girl is hard enough without having a younger brother constantly picking on her. Oh I know that boys are different than girls. But Janet does a lot more around here than do you."
"But Mom, you yourself said that it is good for her. It will help her be a better wife and mother. Don't you wish that for her?" Mikey said, trying once more to get his mother to make a wish.
"I do. And I am sure she will be. But she and I wish you wouldn't argue with her about the few chores you should be doing around here. In fact, as the man of the house I wish you would take on more of the guy chores. You are so big about pointing out that you are a guy and shouldn't have to do girl chores. Well, neither Janet nor I should have to do the guy chores. Now I think you should take out the garbage, don't you?"
Mikey knew that when ever his mom got this way his best course of action was to just say, "Yes Ma'am." And do what she wanted. He failed to make the connection that she had just wished that he would be nicer to his sister and do more chores about the home.
Now since Janet was not totally Mikey sister yet, Mikey would only have a strong desire to be nicer, but he didn't have to be nicer.
Meanwhile, up in his room Janet was looking for something pretty to wear to his aunt's bridal shower. After much effort, Janet still couldn't make up his mind.
"Ready Janet?" He heard his mother ask.
"Not yet. I can't find anything to wear." Janet said.
He then thought to himself, 'Did I really just say that? How girlie can I be?'
Judy picked up the wishing rock and headed up to Janet's room to ask her about it. Under her breath, she said, "I wish
