After another ten minutes of mother daughter bonding in the kitchen, Janet was glad the kitchen was cleaned. 'What could be worse than the last fifteen minutes?' He wondered.
Judy walked into the dinning room and noticed the rock she had set on the hutch. She picked it up and headed into the family room to ask her children what they knew about the rock. As she did she noticed the gift on the end table. 'My sister's bridal shower and hen party is tonight.'
"Janet," she asked her daughter, "you do remember that you and I are going to Aunt Helen's bridal shower tonight."
'Bridal shower. How boring. Mom may be treating me like a girl, but I am a guy.' Janet thought.
"Mom, you know that I don't want to go." Janet said, preparing to lay out the facts to his mother.
But before he could continue, Judy said. "Janet. I know you think going to a bridal shower is for old women only. But we are running a bit late. I wish you would accept you are going and go to your room and get dressed in something pretty. After all, Aunt Helen is your favorite aunt."
Any thoughts of arguing with his mother left his head. "Mother, she is my only aunt." Janet said, referring to the old and long run joke which had lost much of its humor.
As Janet went to his room to change, he was thinking 'Why did I change my mind? Mother must have the wishing rock. I have got to get it from her.'
As Janet went to her room, Mikey thought, 'Mother must have the wishing rock. Now to get even with my snotty sister.'
"Mother, don't you wish that Janet would dress, well more pretty."
"Janet is developing her own style Mikey. What I wish isn't the point?"
"Yes Mother, but don't you wish she would be more girly?"
"I might, but that is not the point."
'This is harder than I thought it would be.' Mikey thought as he tried to come up with another way to get his mother to wish his sister would be more girly.
